The Lies I Tell

Whenever I meet someone new
And they have no clue
who I am
I always tell them
lies.

But only when I'm asked.

I wear my old college sweater,
because it's warm and comfortable,
a security blanket for grown ups,
People ask me if I go there.

I say, 'No, I graduated'
even though I didn't.
'I majored in Creative writing,'
I majored in psychology,
and failed epically.

But they don't need to know that,
because I regret choosing psychology
and wish I majored in creative writing,
I only took two writing classes.

It's bad when you choose a major
that only makes you feel more depressed,
because you wanted to figure out
what was wrong with you in the first place.
