Anxiety

Anxiety is a deity
For people who fear life
It keeps you from a variety
Of things that make life

Anxiety brings
Only that which stings
And leaves behind broken wings
Right next to a bunch of smelly dead things

Anxiety weeps for humanity
Because only we know the truth
This life is but a cosmic joke
Played only to fool you

Anxiety sheds light on our toxic society
We call the human race
We spend our lives being compared
Only to feel like a disgrace

Anxiety keeps you trapped in your house
Being afraid like a little mouse
Shaking and shivering in a small corner
You have become much of a loner.

Anxiety keeps us separate and alone
But I am not part of this shallow dome
All you want a place to roam
All I need is a place of my own
A place to call home.
